Perfect morning - Maroochy River

Noosa – Brisbane Cycling Trip

Pack the bags, grab the sun screen, make sure you include the cycling gear and swimmers, and head to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast!  The Winter weather in Southeast Queensland is near perfect and this will be a great opportunity to thaw out if you come from a cooler climate.  Wind in the hair, sand between the toes, the Pacific Ocean off your shoulder and the magic of the sub-tropics – now this is a cycling holiday!

Expect amazing coastal and beach locations, magic scenery, great cycling, awesome whales, some adventure walking, a little dip into the Sunshine Coast ‘hinterland’ and a cruise around Brisbane – the River City!

Tour Overview: Short Break Itinerary -
This exclusive Bushranger Bikes 5 days/4 nights tour itinerary has been designed to take full advantage of arguably some of the best coastal cycling, scenery and beaches in Australia with iconic locations such as Mooloolabah, and Noosa Heads.  Predominantly the riding will be on our fantastic coastal bikeways with some short road sections, and in this region Winter and early Spring is the perfect cycling season - expect magic riding looking out over the coast with the added attraction of some whale spotting.

The gradient is mainly flat so expect relaxed easy cycling, the ride distances each day aren’t massive but from experience I know that groups will want plenty of time to stop and take in the awesome coastal scenery, snap those special photos and enjoy the great cafes and food along the way. If timing permits a ride over the Brisbane River via the Gateway Bridge will be one of the many highlights.

There are also fantastic 'off the bike' adventures that can be incorporated into the itinerary like Noosa Heads National Park, the Glasshouse Mountains, Montville, Noosa shops & cafes, and Brisbane's CBD, Southbank and gardens so this will be one very memorable experience - make sure you are on board!

Category is bike path/road. The tour is a Grade 2 - easy to intermediate.  Read on for all the details and an overview of the itinerary

Itinerary:

An Overview of the 'Short Break' Itinerary*:  This is just one of the itinerary options available.

Day 1: Airport/accommodation pickup mid morning and drive to Noosa.  Lunch will be along the way at a local icon and we will arrive in Noosa mid afternoon.

We can sort bikes for everyone in the afternoon, go for a quick spin/sight seeing and a walk around the headland in the National Park in the evening is a must.

Dinner will be on the Noosa River front so a perfect way to start off this tour. And our accommodation is brilliant and takes advantage of the unique Noosa Wetlands and ecco environment.

Meals included: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2:

Breakfast – we will go for an early spin on the bikes to Tewantin harbour and have breakfast over the water.

Then Ride Noosa to Coolum (lunch at Coolum or Peregian Beach) and then ride Coolum to Alexandra Headlands – approx 50kms. Fantastic views, diverse track – mainly bike path and back roads, plenty of photo opportunities and things to see.

Dinner is at a Surf Club – the only way to go on the coast!

Accommodation will be at Alexandra Headlands or Mooloolabah.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3:

Breakfast at Pt Cartwright.  Then it’s on the bikes for a ride around the Heads and lighthouse - amazing views - before we cycle south to Caloundra – approx. 30kms.  Lunch will be on the Pumistone Passage overlooking the water.

Time to load up for a drive through to the Glasshouse Mountains – if time permits we can climb some of the easier peaks for fantastic views.

Afternoon tea in the Glasshouses and then drive to Scarborough/Redcliffe.

Tonight our accommodation is spectacular with a central location for some easy beachfront walks and fantastic sea views out over Moreton Bay and islands.  Dinner will be at Redcliffe.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4:

Breakfast at Redcliffe.

Ride Scarborough along the beachfront bike path (fantastic bay views all the way) to coffee at Woody Point.  Over the new Ted Smout Bridge to Brighton, Sandgate and Shorncliffe – the views just keep getting better.

Through the Boondall Wetlands and to Pam’s Café at Nudgee Beach for lunch.

Then on along the Kedron Brook bikeway and in through the North Brisbane suburbs of Hendra and Ascot to the Brisbane River at Hamilton.  Continue on the bikeway along the rivers edge through Newstead, Teneriffe and New Farm and into Brisbane City – ride distance today – 70kms plus.

Plenty of great new coffee or dinner spots around the city, New Farm or Teneriffe.

Then – if anyone has any energy left – we could do a night ride/walk around the city and river.

Accommodation would be at New Farm on the river so great central location with access to the city via the River Boardwalk.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5:

Breakfast close to accom at New Farm, maybe some time for a short city/river ride – especially if we didn’t get out the previous night, then it would be bike clean and pack.
